Background

Welcome! My name is Omar Maya, a professional web developer and designer. I was born in Mexico City and grew up in Dallas, where I currently live. I speak fluent English and Spanish, also maturing my French. I've been developing since my early teens and hold a two-year degree in Multimedia Web Design, currently studying Economics.

Skill Set

My favorite tools include ActionScript, Ajax, Apache, CSS, PHP, MySQL, and Photoshop. I'm also fond of Adobe Premiere Pro, Sony Sound Forge, and Notepad++. In my experience, I've had the opportunity to work with Windows, Mac OS X, and Ubuntu (Linux) operating systems.

Aside from web development, I enjoy music, movies, culture, sports, digital video, and digital photography.

The web site

Foundation

This web site was first launched in December 2009 and runs on my own platform developed with PHP and MySQL specifically for this web site. Built graphically with Photoshop and Notepad++ software, it is also hosted on a LAMP system using Ubuntu Karmic Koala and hosts secure, encrypted connections where available.

Purpose

My original intentions for this web site are to share free multimedia, web development, information about the Internet, and topics of interest.
